Do any colleges offer flag football scholarships?Yes, colleges offer flag football scholarships, primarily for women. Driven by the sport's rapid growth and inclusion in the 2028 Olympics, over 60 colleges across the NAIA, NJCAA, and NCAA offer varsity flag football programs with varying levels of athletic, merit, and academic financial aid.
How do I get recruited for flag football?To get recruited for flag football, build a robust athletic profile (highlight film, GPA, height, weight) and directly contact college coaches. Because the sport is expanding rapidly at the collegiate and international levels. coaches rely on proactive outreach, club leagues, and showcase events to identify prospects. Also, we can't reiterate this enough: if you want to get recruited for college flag football, you need to proactively fill out recruiting questionnaires online and personally reach out to college coaches via email (or phone!) to establish relationships and receive feedback.
Do any D1 colleges have flag football?Yes, over 40 NCAA Division I colleges have flag football programs, primarily for women. While most compete at the club level, a rapidly growing number of schools are offering fully funded varsity programs that offer athletic scholarships.
Can you get offers from flag football?Most colleges with flag football programs are going to be NAIA schools and almost non currently offer any full scholarship. Most are currently offering partial paring them with academic and aid.
Will flag football become a NCAA sport?Yes, women's flag football is officially on track to become an NCAA championship sport, with the inaugural National Collegiate Championship projected to take place as soon as spring 2028.
How late is too late to get recruited?Coaches could add high school student-athletes to their roster as late as the spring of their Senior Year. It's possible to be added to a roster even after National Signing Day has passed. If you do not get officially recruited, there may be an opportunity to walk-on.
Can you get a full ride scholarship for flag football?Yes, you can get a scholarship for flag football, although traditional "full-ride" athletic scholarships are incredibly rare. Because it is an emerging sport, colleges primarily offer partial athletic scholarships, combining them with academic merit awards, institutional grants, and need-based financial aid to build a complete funding
What NCAA schools offer flag football?Women’s flag football has been approved as an NCAA Emerging Sport for Women, and over 50 schools currently offer it. (See "College' page for list of colleges offering flag football).
