YOUTH CO-ED FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Who can play?1) Boys/Coed - ages 5 - 12; Girls ages 5 - thru High School 2) All skill levels welcome 3) No tryouts. No drafts.4) Everyone plays – every game. What's a good age to start flag football?5 - 7 year olds have a huge development range and get to learn many skills as they start to play flag football! The youngest children start with learning how to run, pass, and grab the flags from their opponents, as well as the general football experience. My child has never played organized football, should I sign him/her up for flag football?Every player level is welcome. Our coaches are asked to distribute playing time equally, regardless of ability, experience or background. This includes allowing all kids to have a chance to run with or catch the ball. How much playing time can my child expect? Our league promotes participation, fun, and fundamentals. Coaches are strongly encouraged to fairly allocate playing time equally among all players on the team. We will do our best to ensure all players receive equal playing time. What should I look for in a good flag football league?1) Age-appropriate divisions2) Positive coach reviews3) Focus on development and fun4) Safe, well-organized locations5) A clear registration and communication process If I play tackle football on my 7th grade school team can I play flag football also? Yes! There is no UIL rule against playing both. A local school district parent recently entered his sons' entire 7th grade team. They played tackle on Thursday night and ran same plays on Saturday mornings in flag games. I would like my son to play with one of his friends from school. Is that possible?Yes, we not only allow it we encourage friends playing with friends. We have a section in the registration form for all special requests. How many teams can one school have?As many as your schools' participation will support.  We will not turn any players or teams away.    How many players are on a team? Minimum of 7 players. No max. Game Format: 11 vs 11 (if registration is sufficient) ; two 25 minute halves When does season start?September 12, 2026
When does season end?Championship tourney is October 24, 2026 Where are games played?All games are played on the Henderson High School football practice field at 1900 HWY 64 (see map) (Tentative) What are the projected age divisions?Coed - 6U, 9U, 12U (We reserve the right to change the coed age groupings based on final enrollment) Women - High School Are players allowed to play up an age division? Players may play up one year to play with sibling or other special circumstances with league approval. When are games played?All games are played on Saturday mornings beginning September 12. 6U play at 9:00 9U play at 10:15 12U play at 11:30High School Girls play at 12:45 How long are games? Games consist of two 25 minute halves, running clock.
When is registration? Any time prior to August 29, 2026. Deadline - August 29 (There is a $20 late fee after August 29).
How do I register?1) Players may register here online (Player Registration/pay link above)2) Payment required to confirm registration. Can I register a team? Yes. Go to 'Team registration page in navigation bar. I'm having trouble with registration and/or payment, what do I do? Text 903-617-3495 How much does it cost? (There is a $20 late fee if you pay after Aug. 22)1st Child - $80Sibling - $60; Head Coach Child - $25 (Payment Plan Available - go to 'register/pay link, scroll down to bottom.) How do I pay? You may pay using register/pay link above (You must pay after you register for registration to become official) I do not want to pay via credit card. Are there other options available? Contact us for other payment options (Text 903-617-3495) What's included with registration: Jerseys Medal or Trophy (All players get an award; Division winners get trophies) How are players assigned to teams?Coach may register an entire team, players may register individually or as part of a team, request a particular coach, request to play with a sibling or friend, or be randomly placed on a team with local players. Parents of randomly assigned players will be notified of team placement after registration deadline, 2 weeks prior to first game. What if my company want to sponsor a team? 1) Cost $250 per team. (You may sponsor as many teams as you wish) 2) To sponsor a team, click the 'sponsor' link in the navigation bar; a) scroll down to and fill out form then click 'send message' b) To pay click 'donate' button or mail payment to: ETFF; P.O. Box 1493, Henderson 75653 3) We will contact you for more details if needed. For more information on the benefits of sponsoring a team go to 'sponsor team ' link above. Can I sponsor a player? Yes! The cost is $80.00 per player sponsored. You may sponsor as many players as you wish. Just click 'Sponsor a Player' link in navigation bar (sub-page to 'Sponsor Team' link) and follow the same procedure as sponsoring a team For more information on the benefits of sponsoring a player go to 'sponsor player' link above. Who are the coaches?Parent volunteers. We do not hire coaches. Once teams are assembled, parents will be recruited to coach their team. No experience is necessary (Assistance provided by league if requested) but must be able to pass a background check. If we are unable to secure a coach for a particular team, that teams' players may be moved to another team or the team may be disbanded and refunded.   Do I need to have played football to be a good coach?No! Many great coaches have never played competitively. Learning the game, studying strategies, and focusing on player development is more important than personal playing experience. If I volunteer to coach what would be my responsibilities? (Tutorial videos available on YouTube) 1) must be able to pass background check. 2) Must review rules before start of season!!! (We've found we have fewer conflicts if everyone is on the same page and familiar with the rules)3) Must commit one hour per week for practice and a couple hours on Saturday morning for games. 4) Schedule practice times and place. (League will assist with location and/or practice structure if requested; Flag football plays and techniques available on YouTube also) 5) Be responsible for player conduct. 6) Let ALL the kids have fun!!! There are tutorial videos available on line (YouTube). Also, the league will assist with practice locations and/or practice structure if requested. What if I'm interested in refereeing flag football games, what qualifications do I need?1) Must be at least 16 years old.2) Pass a background check3) Must have Transportation4) Must have some knowledge of football or willing to learn.5) No Refereeing experience necessary, training provided6) Must be available Saturday mornings Sept 12 thru Oct 24 from 8:00am till approximately 1:00 pm. 7) Must be reliable. Why Become An Official?1) Great way to stay physically active2) Give back to the game of football3) Stay involved in football4) Serve as a role model or mentor and develop leadership skills May I form my own team? 1) Yes. Must have at least 7 age eligible players to form team. (Age as of Sept.1, 2026) a) Division 6U (5 & 6 yr. olds) b) Division 9U (7, 8 & 9 yr. olds) c) Division 12U (10, 11 &12 yr. olds. d) High school Girls (8th thru 12th grade) Players may register individually and specify team or coach' The league will supply jerseys. Do we accept team registrations: Yes, The coach may register his team using 'register team' link. Does the league supply uniforms? Yes. I’m a parent or coach and I want to help start a team in my neighborhood. What do I do?1) Seek Support. from neighborhood parents. 2) Gauge Interest. Survey other parents to see if they’d be interested in playing flag football. Host an informational meeting for interested parents and kids to gauge interest.3) Volunteer. Volunteer to be a coach or official! These roles are critical to putting together a successful flag season. What about practice?1) Practice begins 1st week following registration deadline: Week of august 25. 2) Practice twice per week before games start3) Practice once per week after games start4) The coach determines time and place Any required equipment?1) No equipment required, however mouth guards are recommended. 2) No metal cleats allowed. 3) Jerseys will be provided by league before first game.
